GÜBRETAŞ, which was established to increase the productivity of the country's lands, also draws attention with its environmentally friendly awareness and social responsibility activities. GÜBRETAŞ, whose main mission is defined as 'To produce and supply plant nutrition products with sustainable growth and an environmentally friendly approach, with the responsibility of being a pioneer in the sector', also pioneers various projects in this field. GÜBRETAŞ, which has been carrying out the Turkey Soil Fertility Map project since 2005 with the aim of protecting soil in agricultural lands, continues to turn its approach in this field into practice with its environmentally friendly modern facility investments in recent years, as well as trainings to popularize conscious agriculture.

Focusing on operational efficiency with the GÜBRETAŞ Excellence System (GMS), which was implemented last year at the company's production and R&D base, Yarımca Facilities in Kocaeli, the company implemented the Zero Waste application this year as well. After the application made by completing the necessary infrastructure and training for the application at Yarımca Facilities was accepted, GÜBRETAŞ was granted a Zero Waste Certificate by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization.

The Zero Waste project, which was published in the Official Gazette in 2019, aims to prevent waste, use resources more efficiently, review and minimize the causes of waste generation, and in case of waste generation, ensure profit through recycling.

GENERAL MANAGER YUMAKLI: “SOIL AND ENVIRONMENT ARE A PART OF OUR MISSION”

Making an evaluation on the subject, General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı said, "In line with the basic mission of our company, we attach great importance to conscious agricultural practices in order to protect the environment and soil, which are the most valuable treasure of humanity, to increase its productivity by enriching its content and to transfer it to the future in a healthy way. In this context, our company constantly emphasizes that the soil must be analyzed and the plant nutrients it needs must be determined correctly before planting, and has been guiding producers on this issue for years. In the Turkey Soil Fertility Map Project, which we initiated only to protect the content of agricultural lands, we conducted soil analysis of 13 thousand lands from 81 provinces and provided practical training on this subject to more than 50 thousand producers. "In these trainings and other activities to popularize conscious agriculture, we contribute to the protection of soil, plant, animal and human health by explaining correct and effective fertilizer use methods," he said.

On the other hand, reminding that GÜBRETAŞ has established environmentally friendly modern infrastructures in its facility investments, Yumaklı said, "NPK-2 production facilities, completed in Kocaeli in 2015, are one of the most modern and environmentally friendly fertilizer production facilities in Turkey." In addition, we have installed environmentally friendly systems that generate solar energy (photovoltaic) in order to meet the electricity needs of some of our facilities from renewable sources. "At the same time, within the scope of social responsibility, we created memorial forests by planting 14 thousand saplings in different provinces of Turkey," he said.

Stating that GÜBRETAŞ has added a new one to its environment and efficiency-oriented works this year and implemented the Zero Waste application in Yarımca Facilities, İbrahim Yumaklı said, "In this context, the necessary application and information studies have been successfully completed in Yarımca Facilities in Kocaeli and the Zero Waste System transition has been achieved. "As a result, our application to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization was approved as a result of the inspections and we received a Zero Waste Certificate."

General Manager Yumaklı stated that work is continuing to establish an environmentally friendly system that will enable the biodegradable waste from the facility cafeteria to be converted into compost and used as a soil improver in the coming period, and that this project will also be included in the Zero Waste System.
