Productive Harvests Have Been Completed in GÜBRETAŞ's Model Fields

29 December 2020

Despite the coronavirus epidemic, GÜBRETAŞ, which implemented model production areas for 16 different plant products in 29 different points of Turkey, completed all harvests this year with its sugar beet model production areas in Yozgat and corn model production areas in Şanlıurfa.

GÜBRETAŞ, which has been organizing farmer training meetings for years with the aim of increasing agricultural productivity and disseminating good agricultural practices throughout Turkey with the awareness of the responsibility of being a pioneer in the sector, continues to offer examples of productivity increase to producers with the "model production area" applications that it has focused on in recent years. In this context, the model production area applications planned in 2020 were completed with harvests in the sugar beet model production areas in Yozgat and grain corn model production areas in Şanlıurfa.

THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE SUGAR BEET FIELD IN YOZGAT IS 2 TIMES THAT OF TURKEY

GÜBRETAŞ established a model production area in Boğazlıyan district of Yozgat this year for sugar beet, which has an important place in agricultural production in our country. As a result of the plant nutrition studies carried out by GÜBRETAŞ expert agricultural engineers in cooperation with the land owner and leading producer since April, sugar beet with high yield and high polar content was harvested from the trial area.

Evaluating the harvest results, GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı said, "We implemented the model production areas project, which we carried out in order to present examples of conscious agriculture, in 29 locations in Turkey, continuing with strict measures despite the epidemic this year. In one of these, the sugar beet application in Yozgat, a yield almost twice the Turkey average was achieved, thanks to the effective fertilization program. According to 2019 TÜİK data, while the average sugar beet yield in our country is 5,832 kg per decare, with the recent harvest, 10,800 kg of sugar beet per decare was obtained in this model area. In addition to the increase in yield, a good result was also achieved in the polar ratio, which is an important criterion in sugar beet. "The polar ratio, which was 17 in the area grown by the producer himself, was as high as 20 in the area followed by our expert agricultural engineers," he said.

Molla Çalık, the owner of the land where the application was carried out in Yozgat, said, "I have been planting sugar beet here for a long time. In our region, 5-6 thousand kilos of crop are generally harvested per decare. This year, we decided to carry out a study with the proposal of GÜBRETAŞ's agricultural engineers. GÜBRETAŞ team started by taking samples from my soil and analyzing it. Then they fertilized according to what the plant and soil wanted. This year, I yielded 6,500 kilos per decare from the land I cultivated using my own method. In the section where we implemented the program of the GÜBRETAŞ team, we harvested 10,800 kilos of product per decare. I saw and experienced the difference in development and efficiency with my own eyes. "I recommend what I learned here to my farmer friends," he said.

PRODUCTIVITY INCREASED IN THE CORN FIELD IN ŞANLIURFA, DESPITE THE CLIMATE CONDITIONS

Another of GÜBRETAŞ's latest model field harvests this year was made in Şanlıurfa. In the application made for second crop grain corn in Akçakale district, where the regional average this year is around 1,150 kg/da, a yield of 1,376 kg per decare was obtained despite the effect of adverse climatic conditions. With this result, the product from the model area was 20% higher than the regional average and 32% higher than the Turkey-wide yield average.

Having completed this year's practices with productive results, GÜBRETAŞ continues its preparations for the model production area to be held in 2021.
