GÜBRETAŞ, whose foundations were laid in 1952 to increase agricultural production efficiency in our country, celebrated the 69th anniversary of its establishment at Yarımca Facilities. The opening ceremony of the Microbiology Laboratory established within the R&D Center was also held at the event attended by the company's senior management and facility employees.

Founded on November 6, 1952, with the signature of the then Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, as the first company in the chemical fertilizer industry, GÜBRETAŞ has been contributing to increasing agricultural productivity with plant nutrition products for 69 years. GÜBRETAŞ, which started Turkey's first fertilizer factory in Iskenderun in 1954, has pioneered the introduction of new products to farmers for years with Yarımca Facilities established in Kocaeli in 1961. The company, which achieved a stable growth line especially after 2002 with the strong synergy provided by its main shareholder, Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, increased its market efficiency with its domestic and international investments during this period and also rose to the top among Turkey's largest companies.

As the pioneer of the sector, GÜBRETAŞ, which has been contributing to the country's agriculture with its innovative products as well as its activities to popularize conscious production, R&D studies and facility investments for years, celebrated the 69th anniversary of its establishment at Yarımca Facilities in Kocaeli. At the event where General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı, company managers and employees met, the opening of the newly completed Microbiology Laboratory was also held.

Speaking at the event held at Yarımca Facilities, GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı made evaluations about the company's position in the agricultural sector. Stating that Yarımca Facilities are an important point that brings together the company's production, R&D and investments, Yumaklı said, "GÜBRETAŞ, which also bears the signature of the then Prime Minister Adnan Menderes in the decision to establish the company, is one of the important industrial investments established in 1952 to bring efficiency to the agricultural sector in our country. GÜBRETAŞ has been continuing this founding mission for 69 years, breaking new ground in the sector since 1952, with its products that provide efficiency, innovative services and investments that provide added value to the country's economy. "In line with this mission, we are on the same path to fertilize the Anatolian lands with the products we deliver to farmers, as well as the dissemination of conscious agriculture and our agricultural consultancy activities," he said.

ONE MORE R&D STEP FROM GÜBRETAŞ: MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY

Reminding that they opened the R&D Greenhouse in collaboration with Gebze Technical University two weeks ago within the scope of the research and development activities they have focused on in recent years, Yumaklı said, "Today, we are excited and happy to open the Microbiology Laboratory in Yarımca Facilities on the occasion of its 69th anniversary. Microbiology studies are currently an area of great focus around the world. "As a company, we aim to be a pioneer in microbial fertilizer studies that will benefit the country's agriculture with the new laboratory we established by foreseeing this," he said.

Stating that new products will be developed with the Microbiology Laboratory, which will make great contributions to both GÜBRETAŞ, the agricultural sector and the country's economy in the medium and long term, İbrahim Yumaklı said, “As a result of the new ideas to be produced in this laboratory, we can reduce raw material dependency in our sector with an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach and utilize our own resources more effectively. “I hope we start to see the results of this as soon as possible,” he said.

NEW GENERATION PRODUCTS WILL BE DEVELOPED IN THE MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY FOR THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE

GÜBRETAŞ, which has been carrying out laboratory activities effectively for years both to maintain the quality and reliability of the products it offers to our farmers and to develop new product patterns that increase agricultural efficiency, established the Microbiology Laboratory for new generation fertilizer studies.

In 2019, it was decided to establish a Microbiology Laboratory with modern equipment within the GÜBRETAŞ R&D Center in order to develop new generation fertilizers with high technology content and conduct biotechnological studies. The construction of the laboratory in Yarımca, which started at the end of 2019, was completed in a short time. After the installation of the necessary technological equipment, microbiology and biochemistry experts were employed to carry out product development activities in this field, and GÜBRETAŞ's Microbiology Laboratory, which was completed last summer, started operating.

In GÜBRETAŞ Microbiology Laboratory, studies on the isolation, diagnosis and transformation of non-pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, etc.) that are non-pathogenic and contribute to soil and plant fertility, and their transformation into a product form applicable to the soil (microbial fertilizer) will be carried out in the GÜBRETAŞ Microbiology Laboratory.

Issuing a message on the anniversary of the establishment, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Fahrettin Poyraz said that thanks to the strong cooperation with the Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, which became the main shareholder of GÜBRETAŞ after the privatization in 1993, they have strengthened their market leadership by increasing their fertilizer sales amounts by approximately 300% in the last 19 years.
