There was a 42 percent increase in total production compared to the same period last year. As of June 30, the company's consolidated net profit for the parent company was 258 million TL. GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı's evaluation of the balance sheet was as follows.
“We worked with the awareness of responsibility required by our market share”
“We are still struggling with the Covid-19 epidemic that has affected the whole world. Many sectors and businesses continue to face a serious test in the shadow of the global epidemic. As GÜBRETAŞ, thanks to our operational excellence efforts that we have carried out with our nearly 70 years of corporate experience, we have provided uninterrupted service to our producers in the agricultural sector in terms of fertilizer supply during this difficult period.
We followed the developments in raw material and commodity movements by following the world markets closely. We worked with the awareness of responsibility required by our market share. By providing an advantage in product availability, we did not leave our producers without fertilizer. All these efforts had a positive impact on profitability. "With the balance sheet we have achieved, a result has emerged that satisfies our financial stakeholders."
General Manager Yumaklı stated that the success momentum achieved in the second half of the year will be maintained and that work will continue in line with the 2021 year-end budget targets and said, “We will continue to produce and invest in our investment projects with the confidence we have in the Turkish economy. In the first six months of this year, we realized the highest tonnage of compound fertilizer production in the history of GÜBRETAŞ, reaping the fruits of operational excellence and continuous improvement efforts. We have completed the first phase of the port expansion project at Yarımca Facilities. In addition, zero waste practice was initiated at Yarımca Facilities to ensure waste management, prevent waste and use resources more efficiently. We installed solar panels on the roof of our warehouses in Iskenderun and turned them into a facility that produces its own energy. Our other infrastructure investments continue without slowing down. As part of our R&D activities, we also completed and commissioned our microbiology laboratory for new generation fertilizers. "As Gübretaş, we will continue our work with dedication to add value to agricultural production in every corner of Turkey," he said.
Stating that the strategic importance of agricultural production has increased as the effects of climate change are felt more on a global scale, General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı said, “We will continue to support our farmers who produce for our country with all their efforts and add value to these lands with their labor. "We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our farmers who continue to produce without taking a step back during the difficult period, and we hope that the autumn planting season will be productive, fruitful and healthy."
