GÜBRETAŞ, one of the leading companies in the sector, continues to receive high yields in the harvests in the model production areas it has established all over Turkey and abroad within the scope of its activities to popularize conscious agriculture.
A Harvest Day event was also organized for the model production area application carried out by GÜBRETAŞ in Gömeç district of Balıkesir in order to increase the efficiency and quality in olive agriculture.
Thanks to the conscious plant nutrition program prepared according to the results of soil analysis, the yield of oil olives in the field was achieved with a harvest of over 60 kg per tree, 2.5 times the provincial average in the year 'var' and 4 times the Turkey average.
GÜBRETAŞ, the leading company in the sector, continues to create added value for the agricultural sector with its innovative products, as well as its activities aimed at popularizing conscious agriculture. Aiming to increase productivity and quality in agriculture with nearly 20 "plant and region specific" fertilizer types it has developed, GÜBRETAŞ establishes model production areas in different provinces of Turkey every year to demonstrate the results provided by these fertilizers.
This year, GÜBRETAŞ has carried out sample studies for different plant products in 27 lands in Turkey, 2 in TRNC and 1 in Azerbaijan. The results of these lands, where plant nutrition programs based on soil analysis are applied, are shared with conscious producers in the region during the harvest period.
GÜBRETAŞ added a new one to these events organized to increase productivity and quality through conscious agriculture. At the harvest day event held in an olive garden in Gömeç district of Balıkesir, the yield results achieved in olive cultivation using scientific methods were shared.

Thanks to the balanced plant nutrition program implemented by GÜBRETAŞ, on a 9-decare land belonging to a leading producer in Gömeç's Dursunlu District, the harvest of oil olives over 60 kg per tree is 2.5 times higher than the provincial average in the year 'var' and 4 times higher than the Turkish average. efficiency was achieved.
In his speech at the event, Deputy General Manager Metin Özyürek, who also gave information about the model production areas studies carried out by GÜBRETAŞ to popularize conscious agriculture and the results obtained from these lands, said: "We increased the number of model production area applications we carried out at 18 points last year in 2019. This year, we established model production areas at a total of 30 different locations for 13 types of widely produced agricultural products. While 27 of these areas were built in different parts of our country, two were built in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and one was built in Azerbaijan. “We share the results of the work in these model production areas with our leading farmers in the region and the public during harvest time.”
Stating that Turkey, which has suitable climate and land conditions for olives, is one of the 5 largest countries in the world in olive production and trade, Metin Özyürek said, "If we can better utilize the potential we have in this product, it is possible to rise to the top and contribute more to the country's economy. "The way to utilize our potential in olive trade is to increase yield and quality, and the way to achieve this is through conscious agriculture," he said.
Comparing the general yield averages with the results obtained from the field, Özyürek said, "According to TÜİK data, an average of 16 kg of oil olives are harvested per tree in the 'var year' in our country." With 26 kg per tree in Balıkesir province and 30 kg per tree in Gömeç district, yields are higher than the Turkey average, and in the 'non-existent year' these rates decrease. In this land where GÜBRETAŞ practices, a yield of over 60 kg per tree is expected. "In other words, with this model land, the productivity of our land was 2.5 times the Balıkesir provincial average and approximately 4 times the Turkey average," he said.

Touching on the importance of cultivating the soil correctly, Metin Özyürek said, "Let's not forget that soil is also a living being. That's why it's important to give the soil its needs correctly and consciously. If you meet the needs of the soil, the soil will give you something in return. Our agricultural engineer friends are examining this first. Afterwards, based on the soil analysis results, what the plant wants and needs is determined. "When the soil recipes developed accordingly are applied, high productivity is achieved," he said.
GÜBRETAŞ Deputy General Managers Metin Özyürek and Mesud Şenkardeşler, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives Balıkesir Regional Manager Hilmi Tunahan Eyice, agricultural engineers and many olive producers from the region attended the event.
At the event, a plaque was given to the land owner Rahmi Kaptıkaçtı, who shared his views on the application process on the land, in memory of the day, and then the participants examined the yield in the olive garden on site. Meanwhile, GÜBRETAŞ agricultural engineer Hakan Ermeç gave information to the producers about the stages of the model production area application in this garden.
