GÜBRETAŞ Continued Its Rise in the First Half of the Year

20 August 2020

The success of GÜBRETAŞ's operational activities in this difficult period, which continued to support farmers by mobilizing all its resources, especially at the point of fertilizer supply, in order to continue agricultural production without disruption during the epidemic, was also positively reflected in its second quarter financial results. GÜBRETAŞ, which increased the sales amount in its Turkey operations by 20% compared to the same period of the previous year, achieved an increase of 5% in turnover, 25% in gross profit and 9% in EBITDA in consolidated tables.

GÜBRETAŞ announced its balance sheet regarding its activities in the first 6 months of this year on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). GÜBRETAŞ, which successfully maintains its leading role in the sector with its products and services aimed at increasing productivity in agriculture, as well as its investments, continued its operational and financial rise in the first half of the year, as in the first quarter.

According to the announced results, GÜBRETAŞ, which produced 304 thousand tons of fertilizer in various compositions between January and June this year, increased the total sales amount of solid, liquid and powder fertilizer, which was 1 million 80 thousand tons in the same period last year, to 1 million 129 thousand tons in the first 6 months. As a result, the total net sales amount in GÜBRETAŞ's activities in Turkey was 2 billion TL, while with the contribution of its subsidiaries, the consolidated net sales income reached 2 billion 683 million TL, an increase of 5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

With these results, GÜBRETAŞ also increased its gross profit and EBITDA, and its consolidated net profit for the parent company as of June 30 was 123.4 million TL.

“GÜBRETAŞ WILL CONTINUE THIS TEMPO IN THE SECOND HALF”

Making an evaluation about the balance sheet, GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı said, "From the beginning of the epidemic process, which is the main agenda of our country as well as the whole world, this year, we drew attention to the continuity of agricultural production and continued our activities uninterruptedly by making a great effort to contribute to this in terms of chemical fertilizer input. Despite the epidemic, the spring season in agricultural production was completed efficiently. "With the generally positive effect of climatic conditions, producers in the agricultural sector made productive harvests this year and played an important role in meeting Turkey's food needs," he said.

Reminding that they completed the first quarter of the year with a record with the high performance of the company, Yumaklı said, "We continued our successful results in the first quarter in the second quarter. "Thus, we are pleased to complete the first 6 months of 2020, which was unusual due to the epidemic, with an operational and financial rise," he said.

“The pace achieved by GÜBRETAŞ during this difficult period contributed to the harvest of efficient and quality products by our veteran producers in the agricultural sector, and as a result, the continuity of our citizens' access to all kinds of food under suitable conditions was ensured. "On the other hand, we have presented a picture that satisfies our financial stakeholders with the balance sheet we have achieved," said İbrahim Yumaklı, adding that despite all difficulties, GÜBRETAŞ continues its field activities to popularize conscious agriculture. Yumaklı pointed out that agricultural consultancy support was provided to producers through digital channels as well as field activities, and stated that producers showed great interest in the EGP (Effective Fertilization Programs) mobile application and producer consultancy lines, especially during the epidemic period.

Pointing out that GÜBRETAŞ also made facility investments this year despite the epidemic process, General Manager Yumaklı said, "We continue the investment targets we set at the beginning of the year with the confidence we have in the Turkish economy. In this context, the port expansion project and other infrastructure investments that we initiated in Yarımca Facilities continue. "As part of our R&D activities, we have also completed and commissioned our microbiology laboratory for new generation fertilizers," he said.

Stating that GÜBRETAŞ, with its 68 years of corporate experience, will continue this pace in the second half of the year and that the work will continue in line with the 2020 year-end budget targets, İbrahim Yumaklı said, "On this occasion, we would like to express our gratitude to our farmers who added value to these lands with their labor by continuing production in the garden and field with a selfless effort during the global epidemic. We express our gratitude once again. We hope that the autumn planting season will be as productive, fruitful and healthy as the first half of the year for all our agricultural producers. "As GÜBRETAŞ, we continue to work for our country and create value for agriculture by adhering to all necessary measures against the virus, with all our employees across Turkey," he said.
