Within the scope of GÜBRETAŞ's model field applications, thanks to the effective fertilization program implemented in an almond garden in Adıyaman Kahta under the consultancy of expert agricultural engineers, a yield of 16 kg of fresh almonds per tree was achieved, twice the average of the regional producer.

GÜBRETAŞ, which has been carrying out R&D studies for years to increase efficiency and quality in the country's agriculture, continues to develop "plant and region-specific fertilizers" for agricultural products widely grown in Turkey. ALMOND HARVEST IN ADIYAMAN IS TWICE THE REGIONAL PRODUCT

One of the model field studies in which GÜBRETAŞ carried out trial planting this year was carried out in Adıyaman. An application was carried out under the supervision of GÜBRETAŞ expert agricultural engineers in a 7-decare section of the garden of almond producer Mustafa Şinasi Turanlı in Arılı village of Kahta district. The producer continued to care for the almonds in the other part of the land with his own methods.

As a result of the harvest, producer Mustafa Şinasi Turanlı achieved a result close to the district-wide almond yield average from the section he maintains, while the almond yield per tree reached 16 kg in the area of 240 trees where GÜBRETAŞ's effective fertilization program was applied. With this result, the district and producer yield average in GÜBRETAŞ's trial area increased, while the quality of almonds also increased. Thanks to conscious and effective fertilization methods, the poor size, deformity, hairiness and double almond formation of almonds, which cannot be considered as commercial value, were prevented and a product harvest with high internal yield and internal almond quality was achieved.

Expressing his thoughts on the subject, leading almond grower Mustafa Şinasi Turanlı said, "We can generally get up to 8 kilos of yield from the trees we grow. The efficiency across Kahta is also similar. In good and well-kept gardens, this amount can reach 10 kilos. However, we got more yield from the area I allocated to GÜBRETAŞ compared to the trees I tended myself, and the yield was higher. The visible difference really surprised me. "I will try to apply what we have learned in this model field in the care of our other almonds from now on," he said.

GENERAL MANAGER YUMAKLI: “ALMOND PRODUCTION AREAS INCREASED 3-fold IN THE LAST 10 YEARS”

Stating that the results of the model production area in Adıyaman are promising for the rapidly increasing almond cultivation in Turkey, GÜBRETAŞ General Manager İbrahim Yumaklı said, "As it is known, almonds are a product that is quite difficult to grow but yields returns in both the domestic and foreign markets. Almond, which is used in different sectors from food to cosmetics, is one of the hard-shelled fruits that can grow in many regions of our country. Thanks to the incentives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding the establishment of almond gardens, in the last 10 years, the almond production areas in our country have increased almost three times from 170 thousand decares to 470 thousand decares, while Turkey has risen to the 5th place in the world in almond production. According to TÜİK data, 150 thousand tons of almonds were produced in our country last year, providing agricultural added value. However, since this amount still did not meet the almond consumption in our country, 27 thousand tons of almond need was met by imports in 2019,” he said.

Yumaklı said that they created a model production area in the Kahta district of Adıyaman this year to show how conscious agricultural practice will increase productivity in the increasingly widespread almond farming and added, "The aim in agricultural production is to obtain the highest possible productivity and quality product. The most effective way to achieve this is through balanced and regular fertilization. Hard-shelled fruits remove more nutrients from the soil. Giving almonds the amount of nutrients they need not only produces crops with high market value, but also contributes to the continuity of yield in the next year. "This study conducted in Adıyaman not only brings efficiency to almond producers, but is also important in terms of agricultural economy in terms of contributing to the creation of supply to meet Turkey's almond consumption," he said.

General Manager Yumaklı said, “In the region where we implemented this conscious agricultural model and in the field of Mr. Mustafa, who opened a part of his land to us, the yield per tree was 7-8 kilos, and in the area where we practiced, the yield per tree increased to 16 kilos. "As GÜBRETAŞ, we have demonstrated that it is possible to increase the yield and quality of almonds with the example of Adıyaman," he said.

Drawing attention to the contribution of increased productivity in agriculture to farmers' incomes and the national economy, İbrahim Yumaklı said, "If we can achieve the increase rate in this exemplary practice on a Turkish scale, when we slightly increase the yield and quality in almond production with conscious methods, we will be able to meet the domestic demand entirely with domestic production."
